In Her Head

Pandora just bombed sophomore year and now she’s stuck in a psychiatrist’s office, reenacting her mental breakdown like it’s open mic night. Onstage, her mind becomes a chaotic landscape where Depression, Anxiety, Libido, and Charisma take centre stage while Empathy hides in the break room crocheting. Through poetry, dark humour, and emotional honesty, the play transforms one Black girl’s mental spiral into a hilarious and heartfelt search for healing. Think Inside Out — but with more panic attacks and punchlines.
Playing both Myelin and the offstage voice of Dr. Green in Pandora allowed Meher to explore two very different ways of supporting the central character. As Myelin, Pandora’s best friend, she leaned into both the warmth and humour of their friendship. Myelin’s comedic energy helped bring lightness to the play’s heavier themes, showing how humour can be a way of coping, connecting, and caring for someone who is struggling.
Voicing Dr. Green from offstage with a microphone was a completely different challenge. Without being physically present, Meher had to rely entirely on vocal tone, pacing, and listening to create the therapist’s presence and sense of calm authority. It pushed her to think about how voice alone can shape a character and influence the emotional rhythm of a scene.
Balancing these two roles deepened Meher’s understanding of how different forms of support appear in someone’s healing journey through humour, friendship, guidance, and simply being there to listen.
